Nellie Lucille Rainey

Nellie Lucille Rainey, 78, of Cataula died Friday, December 26, 2025 at her residence.
"Lucille", as she was best known, was born on September 25, 1947 in Columbus, GA the daughter of William Ferrell and Clessie Mae McDowell. She was a homemaker. In her early adult life she traveled a lot being in a military family. She was able to see much of the world during that time. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. She was a talented crocheter and knitter, and loved to collect all kinds of treasures. Her family and husband were the most important people in her life. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Broyles; grandson, William Ball; great-grandson, William Ginn; and siblings, Linda McDowell, Faye McDowell, Gene Dudley, and James Dudley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Danny Gerald Rainey of Cataula, GA; her daughters, Katrina (Bobby) Ball of West Point, GA, Angela (Mark) Vining of Hamilton, GA, and Loretta Ham of Cataula, GA; grandchildren, Quana Kavanagh, Brian (Lindsey) Kilgo, Jessica (Justin) Hill, Anastasia (John) Johnson, Bryan Bozeman, Jonathan Dowda, Amber (Travis) Ginn, Krystal (Tracy) Ginn, Troy Dowda, Joshua (Heather) Dowda, Victoria Wyatt, Denise Garrett, and Chance Allen; great-grandchildren, Kaiya Hill, Evelyn Johnson, Nicolai Johnson, Nathan Dampier, Alaynna, Landin, Alyssa, and Timber Ginn, Troy Dowda, Tyler Dowda, Chippy, Bella, Serenity, Karisma, Kinsley, Thomas, Ryker, Braxton, Brayden, Brycen, Ethan and Austin.
Memorial services will be conducted in the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home - Hamilton at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted, or those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
