Nellie Vee Whitfield, 93, of Jay, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025. She was born in Chumuckla., Florida on October 16,1931. She met her husband at the Jay Theater, and they were married in 1951. They lived their lives together for 74 years in the Whitfield community until 1977, when they built a home in Pea Ridge, Florida so they could be closer to his job.

She was a homemaker and graduate of Chumuckla High School in 1950. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of the Pace Assembly of God Church and a former Miss Santa Rosa County in 1949. She loved to shop, work in the yard, and her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Neal and Bama Ard Simmons; Her husband of 74 years who passed away there months ago on June 14, 2025, Rufus Thames Whitfield; two brothers, J.E. Simmons and D.T. Simmons.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Gail Johnson (Phil); her son, Stanley Whitfield (Ivy); three grandchildren, Adam Whitfield, Jennifer Johnson, and Michelle Johnson; one great grandson, Kyle Young.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Whitfield church with Rev, Steve Zepp of Pace Assembly of God Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time.

Burial will follow in Whitfield Cemetery.
