Nelson "Mickey" Burgess

Nelson "Mickey" Burgess, 70, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022.
Mickey was born on Saturday, August 9, 1952 to Evelyn (Roberts) McKnight in Monticello, Kentucky.
Mickey grew up in Indianapolis. He never missed a day's work at Kroger Bakery before he retired from Kroger Bakery. He loved fishing, golfing, camping, and hunting. He loved the Lord and loved going to church, Faith Trinity Pentecostal Church in Shelbyville, IN. Mickey loved kids, especially his grandkids. He was a family-oriented man. He was as ornery as the day is long. Mickey will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Joyce Burgess; his siblings, Danny Foster, Janice Duke, Marilyn Brann, and Dickey Joe Hardwick; his children, Mikki Burgess, Carlie Corman, Carl (Liz) Downey and Troy (Lisa) Jackson; his 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mickey is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn McKnight; his brothers, Harry Roberts and John Hardwick; and his daughters, Dena Burgess and Tammy Escue.
There will be a visitation on Monday, August 15th, 2022, from 5pm to 8pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel. There will be another visitation from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022, followed by the funeral service at 11am. Burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
