It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nelson C. Cammock Sr. on January 6, 2025.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Nelson led a life full of warmth, friendship, and joy, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nelson had a natural gift for connecting with people and loved spending time engaging in conversation. He was a regular at the Senior Center, where he enjoyed playing bingo and forging lasting friendships. His ability to entertain others with his stories and make people feel valued was one of his most cherished qualities.
Nelson enjoyed his home in Stuart, Florida, where he took great pleasure in his daily swims. Summers brought him back to Delaware, where he spent time with this family, sitting on his swing, and greeting neighbors with a friendly wave as they passed by.
Professionally, Nelson dedicated himself to work, holding a number of jobs, including a bread route at Freihofers bread Company and retiring from 7-Up Bottling Company. His unwavering commitment to his family and work was a testament to his hard-working nature and his desire to always be there for those he loved.
Nelson was predeceased by his beloved wife, Hazel Jean Cammock. He was a man deeply loved by his family, and that love was reciprocated in full. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by all who knew him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Nelson is survived by his daughter, Catherine Filipkowski and her husband Michael; son, James Cammock and his wife debbi; daughter, Pam Cammock; son, Nelson Cammock Jr. and his fiancée Lisa Brubaker. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeanel Ansell, Michael Filipkowski Jr., Matthew Filipkowski, James Cammock Jr., Alexis Cammock, Kaitlin Cammock, and Kevin Snyder, as well as three great-grandchildren, Emma Ansell, Piper Ansell, and Jack Ansell. A fourth great-grandchild, Lainey Kelly, is expected in February.
He is also survived by his longtime friend and great travel companion Joan White of Florida with whom he shared so many wonderful and caring years together.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Amber Walsh, who always took care of her "Poppop" who was not by blood but from love.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a celebration of life will begin at 11 am. All who wish to honor his memory are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
