Nelson Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Royal Funeral Home, Inc. - Jesup on Dec. 8, 2025.
Nelson Williams, Jr. also known as "Paul/Paw" by family and friends was born August 20,1971 to the late Nelson Williams, Sr. and Verdie Shellman in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He was educated in the public school system of Charlton County, Georgia (Folkston, Ga.). He later attended and graduated from Okefenokee Technical College with a degree in welding and worked various construction jobs. Nelson was a member of Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church where he grew up as a child.

Nelson was united in holy matrimony to Jasmain Sappe-Williams on November 16, 2007.

He was a proud father, an avid dog lover and enjoyed fishing with his late father and siblings, telling corny jokes, and watching football. You better believe he never missed an opportunity to brag about the Georgia Bulldogs.

Nelson passed away on December 04, 2025 in Savannah, Georgia following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Williams, Sr.; his stepfather, Wilfred Shellman, and a sister, Laura Carson.

Nelson will be lovingly remembered by his wife of (18) years, Jasmain Williams of Folkston Ga; his three children, Nelson D. Williams, Sr. of Jacksonville, Fl., Markee Maxwell of Folkston, Ga. and Andia Williams of Eglin AFB; his mother, Verdie Shellman of Folkston Ga.; his brothers, Lenny Pasley of Folkston, Ga., Brian Pasley of St. Mary's, Ga., Nelson E. Williams (Rhonda) of Mobil, AL, Vyctor Lockett of St. Augustine, Fl. and Kevin McNeil of Yulee, Fl.; his sisters, Sherry Pasley-Standley of Folkston, Ga., Lori Barbosa (Jeff) of St. Mary's, Ga. and Selethia Knight (Frank) of Savannah, Ga; four grandchildren, Nathen Glover, Londyn Williams, Ayden Cogdell, Nelson D. Williams, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

There will not be a traditional funeral service held, however, there will be a viewing/visitation held on Tuesday, December 09, 2025 at Mt. New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 416 Dixie Lake Road, Folkston, Ga. 31537, from 12 noon until 2:00 pm.

There will be a private disposition of remains following the viewing.
