Netta Jo Ison, 69, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born at home on August 29, 1954, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Ison and Mae (Fields) Caudill.
Netta had worked for Silgan Plastics and AISIN both in Seymour. She was a member of Greater Vision Ministries in Reddington. Netta enjoyed flowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds and was a Dale Earnhart Jr. fan. She loved spending time with her grandkids and loved her dogs, Molly, Flash, Sage, and Sarge.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Shannon) Grunden of North Vernon; life companion, Jerry Smith; brothers, Roger (Patty) Ison, Timothy (Delores) Ison, Charles Ison, and Wayne Caudill, all of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Doug Ison of Wichita, Kansas, and Danny Ison of Piedmont, South Carolina; sisters, Pamela Bates of Whitesburg, Kentucky, Wendy (Alan) Willis of Piedmont, South Carolina, and Patsy (Donnie) Fleetwood of Brownstown; grandchildren, Brayton (Kaylee) Adams, Austin (Alexis Bott) Grunden, and Jaiden Grunden, all of North Vernon; great-grandchildren, Kash Westin Adams, Decker Jo Adams (her namesake), and Scout Barrett, all of North Vernon, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Brenda Couch and Debbie Niece.
A funeral service for Netta will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Bro. Nathan Phillips officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Burial will follow in the Hayden Cemetery in Hayden.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Netta for expenses.
