Neville J. Quarles, 88, husband of the late Gearline Nichols Quarles, of Walhalla, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Cottingham Hospice House. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Quarles was the son of the late Luther Quarles and Mary Addis Quarles. He dedicated over 52 years of his life to the dry-cleaning business, earning the respect and appreciation of his community. Mr. Quarles was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and found great joy in southern gospel music, especially watching his favorite programs on Channel 16. He took great pride in caring for his family and tending to his home, which he did both with love and respect. Mr. Quarles is survived by his sister: Linda Quarles; nephews: Keasler Quarles (Elaine), Michael "Mike" Quarles (Judy), and Hugh Rogers (Shannon); nieces: Sheri Moore (Brian), Pam Scruggs, Cynthia Dilworth (Derrill), and Tina Charping (Tony); great nephews: James Quarles (Jess), Garrison Scruggs, and Bryson Scruggs; great nieces: Mackenzie Bond (Devyn), Madison Moore, and Julianne Quarles; great-great nephews: Asher Scruggs, John Quarles, and Jace Quarles; great-great niece: Josie Quarles; and sisters-in-law: Barbara Morris, Alice Blair, Linda Foster (Larry), and Janet Quarles. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Quarles was preceded in death by his brothers: Julian Quarles and Bill Quarles; his sister: Geraldine Sanders and her husband, Marcus Sanders. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025,at Davenport Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM prior to the service, at Davenport Funeral Home. To respect Mr. Quarles wishes, the family asks those who attend his services to dress casually or in their favorite blue jeans. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made in Neville's memory to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 500 Poplar Springs Rd., Walhalla, SC 29691 or to Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills, Attn: Foundation Office 298 Memorial Dr., Seneca, SC, 29672. The family is at their respective homes.
