With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nicholas J. Beyer, fondly known as Nick, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed from this life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on June 5, 1955, to the late Harold and late Mildred (née Macke) Beyer. Nick filled his years with love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he cherished.
Nick, known for his humility and boundless generosity, was a true embodiment of warmth. He gave his heart and soul to his family and friends, never hesitating to lend a helping hand or offer support. A passionate cheerleader for his grandchildren, he could always be found on the sidelines, full of enthusiasm and pride at every sporting event, encouraging and celebrating their every success with infectious joy.
Nick had a zest for life that was truly infectious. A regular at car shows, he reveled in the beauty of vintage vehicles, always ready to share anecdotes and laughs with fellow enthusiasts. His appreciation for guns and knives showcased his keen eye for craftsmanship and design-each piece in his collection told a story. Whether he was sinking a shot at the pool table or reminiscing about the clever wit of old TV shows, Nick's laughter and friendly banter drew people in, leaving a trail of smiles wherever he went.
A true lover of music, Nick knew the words to every song, often serenading listeners with his rich baritone. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Nicholas could often be found cheering on his favorite team with passion. He lived for the thrill of the game, and he always knew the words to every song-his impromptu performances would fill the room with joy and nostalgia.
Nick is survived by his devoted wife, Shelly (née Wayt) Beyer. He was a proud father to Noel Beyer, and a loving step-father to Brandon (Amy) Engstrom and Crissy (Cami) Engstrom. Nick delighted in being a papaw to Tom Sanner, Christopher Upshaw, and Jordan Smith, and a step-grandfather to Logan, Joey, Silas, and Erik Engstrom. He will be missed deeply by his siblings: David (Connie) Beyer, Nancy (Carl) Roll, Diane Columbus, and Bonnie (Greg) Shuff, and remembered fondly by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his brother Harold "Hal" (late Nancy) Beyer. Together, they crafted a life rich in laughter, compassion, and camaraderie.
As we remember Nick, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and grace. His humility shone brightly, serving as a beacon for all who knew him. For Nick, giving was not just an act but a way of life-his spirit touched many, creating ripples of kindness that will continue to resonate long after his departure.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday (April 30) from 5:00-7:00 PM at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. bringing together family and friends to honor his memory. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. James Church, 3565 Hubble Rd., on Thursday (May 1) at 11:00 AM.
