Nicholas Borchers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
Nicholas (Nick) Borchers died at home in Port Angeles on March 28, 2025 after a prolonged battle with alcoholism. Nick was born in Yakima, Washington on November 26, 1984. In the spring of 1985 Nick's family moved to Port Angeles and settled on a 5 acre property on Baker Farm Road. Nicks father Len became the Administrator of the Port Angeles (8th Street) Clinic and his mom Christine worked as an RN for the Pediatric Clinic, Clallam County Public Health and Head Start.

Nick was a ball player of extraordinary skill. From the time he could walk he was kicking a soccer ball, throwing a baseball or swinging a bat or golf club. His teams from Little League (Local 155) to Babe Ruth (Dobson's) to the PA High School Roughriders and Wilder Senior Babe Ruth were successful at every level of competition. Nick was a team leader and supported, encouraged and inspired his teammates to excel. Many of them remained close friends for over twenty years.

In high school Nick took on the challenging sport of wrestling and was named the first scholar-athlete state champion in PA history in recognition of his wrestling accomplishments and high GPA . His dad is honored to have been his coach in both baseball and wrestling.

After high school Nick attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Ca. in pursuit of a degree in electrical engineering. He eventually completed a B.S. Degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois. He was drawn to high end industrial/technical sales and was adept at mastering new products quickly. His positive and engaging personal style was a huge asset in developing and maintaining customer relationships. One particular client he enjoyed reporting about was comedian Jay Leno. Nick visited Leno at his home and car collection garage to pitch a 3-D scanner /printer. It is not clear if Leno made a purchase but he did cook dinner for Nick and the other guests.

Nick is survived by his father, Len, a sister Allison and nephew Lincoln and a brother Andy (Jamie Sage) and niece Jai-Lynn Taylor as well as his long-time companion Brixton, the world's best miniature Schnauzer. Nick was preceded in death by his mother Christine (2022).

Nick will be remembered for his enduring friendships and his willingness to help others.

An informal Celebration-Gathering is scheduled for June 25, 2025 at the YMCA of Port Angeles from 1 to 3 PM prior to the start of the Wilder Baseball Firecracker Tournament. (Note: Identification is required to enter the YMCA facility if you are not a member.)

The family requests that remembrances or donations be made to Wilder Baseball (% Zac Moore (321 Elwha Bluffs Rd, Port Angels 98363), The Port Angeles Education Association (PO Box 787 Port Angeles, 98362) or Lakeside Milam Recovery Center (10322 NE 132nd St Kirkland, WA 98034.)
