Nicholas S. Dahl, 30, of Mount Airy, MD, Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles, CA and around the world, died suddenly, October 14, 2022. He was born, April 8, 1992 in Baltimore, MD, the son of Steven M. Dahl and Ellen Finnerty Myers. He attended South Carroll High School and New York University where he majored in Politics.
Nic loved to travel. He spent a year abroad in Spain and China during college. He has traveled more continents and countries than his parents combined, but New York City was the only place Nic ever wanted to be. From a very early age, he walked the streets of New York like he owned them. He loved the Opera, music, every museum he ever walked into, and Broadway.
Nic was a prolific writer and reader. He created and shared poems during family gatherings, friends' weddings, and on social media. He was wordy and worldly. His favorite childhood book was, I Love You The Purplest written by Barbara Joosse and illustrated by Mary Whyte. He was convinced the little blond-haired boy in the book was him and the brown-haired boy was his brother, Finn. Every year on Mother's Day, Nic and Finn sent their mother a beautiful bouquet of purple flowers. Purple remained Nic's favorite color throughout his life.
Nic was colorful from day one. A proud LGBTQ man, his political passions fueled his crusade for equality. He loved being part of the gay community!
Nic was beautiful in every way. He saw beauty in every person, thing, and moment. He created beautiful tablescapes and spaces.
He was also a fashionista. He adored his sisters, and often gave them unique fashion advice. Somehow his eye was always spot on before the trends.
He wanted so badly to stay sober. He made sober friends easily no matter where he went. They all loved him and he loved them. With their support, he completed three Triathlons.
Nic is survived by his loving parents and step-parents; Steve and Betsy Dahl and Ellen and Doug Myers; his brother, Finn Dahl; and his sisters, Theresa and Ansleigh Myers, and Kate Lau. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Finnerty of Rochester, NY; and his maternal step-grandparents, Phyllis and Fred Reinhard of West Chester, PA and Ann Kepner of Gainesville, VA. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and second cousins. Not to be forgotten are his dearest friends and chosen family in New York City. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Stan and Marylou Dahl of Wayne, NJ and paternal step-grandparents, Stan and Dorothy Myers of Surf City, NJ and his maternal step-grandfather, Chase Kepner of Gainesville, VA.
Nic's philosophy was to: Allow. Witness. Keep quiet. Listen for the call of a higher purpose. The call is the truth. The truth is the way. Hear the call. Heed the call. It liberates. It fosters creation. In higher calling fate awaits. If you would like to read more of Nicholas' words and view his favorite pictures, please visit at www.nicholasdahl.com

I´ll always remember Nic as a little boy... with his glowing smile and giggles. I can´t remember how many play dates Nic, Nick, and Brooks shared. They loved the pink play kitchen in our basement that they all loved and their endless building of forts from blankets and cushions! Nic was such a happy child, and these memories will stay with us always. It´s with a "Grateful Heart" we had those beautiful memories. We are so, so sorry for your loss. Sending you hugs and love. If you still have the quilt I made you please snuggle up with it and feel our love. Debra & Gary Gabel and boys

Nic was always so caring and full of energy. I remember being a freshman in High school and I was hanging at the Dahl's house and he spent an hour with me just asking questions on how he could help make the homecoming dance better for all. Every time I spent time with Nic, he was always bringing joy and happiness to the room. He could always light up a room. You will be deeply missed.

I met Nic several years ago. I was instantly drawn to his charisma and style. We also shared similar trials and tribulations. Throughout the last few years we had kept in touch. He always held a special place in my heart. I remember watching him set a table for a big dinner once. His attention to detail and creative spark was apparent. I knew that he was special.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I´m sorry I´ll never get to see him again. Sending lots of love and prayers to the family.

I´ll buy some purple flowers in his memory today.

I never actually met Nic, but he sure looks like a fun-loving, awesome individual... much like his step Mom. Ellen, my heart goes out to you and your family. Thoughts and prayers heading your way.

I was at the farmers market picking out these gorgeous flowers for a friend going through a bad time that would make her smile when I heard the news. It wasn´t until days later I realized everyone was posting bouquets for him. It feels as if he was the subconscious voice in the head telling me to make someone smile which is how I remember him. He always wanted to make people smile. That is a special moment I will carry with me always just like when he helped me with my first chorus audition which sparked my love for music. It was only 20-30 minutes but he had that impact to inspire and bring out the best in everyone and it meant the world to my 14 year old self. You are all in my thoughts
