Nicholas DiDomenico, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on August 5, 2023 just four days shy of his 104th birthday. Born in Philadelphia on August 9, 1919, he was the beloved son to the late Joseph and Josephine DiDomenico (nee Dari).
At a young age, Nick was engrained with a hard work ethic delivering milk and working as a dishwasher and cook at several diners. In his adult life, he owned and operated his own trucking business for many years until his retirement.
In 1941 he married the love of his life, Margaret R. (nee Cotteta). Together they shared 47 years of marriage raising their children, Nicholas J. DiDomenico, Jr. (the late Angie) and Maryann A. Bono (Anthony T.). After starting his family, he was drafted in the United States Army during World War II. He was heartbroken to leave his family behind, but he proudly served his country. During his military combat service, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal.
Upon his honorable discharge, he was able to come home and enjoy his family whom he loved so much. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, doting Pop Pop to Nicholas J. DiDomenico, III (Lucy), Margaret M. "Peaches" Edgar (Matthew), Joanne F. Bernstein (Jeffrey), great "Big" Pop Pop to Darryl Ryan Saylor, Nicholas M. Bernstein, Trey J. Bernstein, and Chase M. Bernstein, step great Pop Pop to Joshua Edgar and Jordyn Edgar. We find comfort knowing he was welcomed into heaven by his wife, parents, and siblings Catherine M. Valeriani, Ida Rocano, Americo "Johnny" DiDomenico, Clondy DiDomenico, and Vincent DiDomenico, Sr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of multiple generations. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Nick was very artistic and loved to paint in his free time. He was also an avid swimmer. He was a very active member of the Greater Plymouth Community Center where he was loved by all. The Plymouth Township Council honored his 100th birthday, August 9, 2019, by designating it as "Nicholas DiDomenico, Sr. Day."
Nick was also blessed with very loving and supportive neighbors that looked after him with much joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to Nick's Life Celebration on Friday August 11, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike.

I have been a neighbor to Nick since 1971, He was a honest hard working person. I remember many of the neighbors going to his home to remove the snow from his driveway and side walk and Nick still out clearing the snow with them at a 100. He was a friend to everyone, and everyone looked after him. I remember just the other day seeing him still driving pass our house and waving. He will be Greatly Missed. RIP.
