Dr. Nicholas Thomas Hallick passed away on March 8, 2025. He was born on May 18, 1930 in Peoria, Illinois. At the age of three, he and his family moved to Greece and endured the Italian and German occupations of Greece during World War II. When he was 17 years old, Nicholas returned to the United States and began his journey to become an outstanding Oral Surgeon, businessman, community member, husband and father.
Dr. Hallick earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of New Mexico in 1953, making the Dean's Honor List. He then went on to graduate from Baylor University College of Dentistry and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Medicine. His specialty training includes the Hermann Hospital Fellowship in Oral Surgery and Residency at the University of Texas Houston Medical Center. There, he was declared the Outstanding Oral & Maxillofacial resident.
Dr. Hallick arrived in Corpus Christi in 1964 and set up an Oral & Maxillofacial practice that lasted until he retired in 1997. He was grateful to the countless Corpus Christi residents who received his care and the friendships he made in the city he loved. During this time, he made numerous trips to Mexico giving lectures and performing surgeries. He never turned anyone away who needed his care. He served as Chief of Oral Surgery at Spohn Hospital and Memorial Medical Center, was a member of the Nueces Valley District Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, Texas Society of Oral Surgeons, a board member of the American Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society, and the President of the Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was also an Instructor of Oral Pathology at the School of Dental Hygiene at Del Mar College.
Dr. Hallick was an active member of the Corpus Christi Rotary Club since 1968. He credits the Rotary Club for helping him achieve his dreams even before he was a member and treasured his time and friendships during his membership.
He was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church and raised his family in the church. The church was a major part of his life and he thought of its members as family.
He was interested in many outdoor activities. These included ranching - raising cattle & horses and he was involved in Stock Shows and Rodeos. He was also an avid Pilot and flew a Cessna Skylane 182. However, he said his most prized achievement was marrying his wife of 63 years, Mary Elfreida (Freida) Hallick.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Freida, his sons Thomas Hallick and Michael Hallick, grandson Matt Hallick, brothers Constantine Hallick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and James Hallick of Lockport, Illinois, his niece Connie Ramskugler and his parents Tom Hallick and Pauline Bellos.
He is survived by his son Stephen Hallick, his daughter Pauline Hallick, Grandchildren Lauren Simko (Chris), Trista Mcguinnes (Drew), Michael Hallick, Diana Hallick, Cole Hallick (Savannah), and Reagan Hallick, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
We would like to give special thanks and gratitude to Ted & Tracy Andreadis for their friendship and help over the many years.
To his primary caregivers, Karin Hunter and Lisa Simmons-Galvan who took such wonderful care of our father. We can't thank them enough.
Father Thomas and so many parishioners at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox church for their visits and care.
And finally, to the Mirador and the caring staff there. Thank you for taking great care of both our mother and father.
A visitation will begin at 6 PM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church followed by a Trisagion Service at 7 PM and reception. Funeral services will begin at 10 AM on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church followed by a committal service and final military honors at Seaside Memorial Park.
In keeping with Dr. Hallick's priorities in life, the family encourages memorial contributions be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church or the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi Endowment Fund at the link below.
