Stephen Alexi Hallick peacefully passed away on June 18, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. Born in
Corpus Christi, Texas, on a very special Valentine's Day in 1969, Stephen graduated from King High School and was accepted to the University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'Em!) where he obtained a Bachelor's degree with double majors in Government and Spanish. Stephen was also a proud founding member of The Longhorn Hellraisers in 1988, bleeding burnt orange with a passion that never faded, long after he graduated.
Stephen enjoyed a career in the restaurant industry, keeping morale high while also providing a supportive atmosphere for both his employees and guests, even during rush hours. Eventually Stephen clocked out for his final shift and became a dedicated educator - following his true calling. He was an English & Writing teacher in elementary and intermediate grade levels for Tyler ISD and Whitehouse ISD, showing a deep commitment to enriching each student's learning journey. Making a positive impact came easy to Stephen.
In 2020, he returned to Corpus Christi to care for his loving parents. He made the most of his time back home - enjoying cooking (which he did well), staying in touch with friends, and most especially, continuing his lifelong passion for fishing. If you couldn't find him, you simply needed to check his favorite fishing spots in the Coastal Bend. In 2022, Stephen joined his father as an active member of the Corpus Christi Rotary Club, where he made many friends and provided community support wherever there was a need.
Stephen's joyful spirit lives on through his daughters Trista McGinnis (Andrew), Reagan Hallick, his sister Pauline Hallick, granddaughters Carmen, Claudia, and Charlotte, his biological mother Ellyn Sleeth, nephew Thomas Nicholas "Cole" Hallick (Savannah), niece Diana Hallick, niece Lauren Simko (Christopher), nephew Michael Hallick, and numerous, yet cherished, great-nieces and great-nephews. Stephen is now reunited with his parents, Dr. Nicholas T. & Mary Elfreida Hallick, his brothers Michael and Thomas Hallick, and nephew Matthew Hallick, where he's celebrating a most joyous reunion.
On Stephen's behalf, the family would like to share immense gratitude for friendships not everyone is blessed to experience, particularly for Ted & Tracy Andreadis, Kim Brown, and Lisa Simmons-Galvan. Their presence and love shown towards Stephen cannot be thanked enough. And to Cole Hallick, whose exceptional help in caring for his uncle never wavered and remained present, we appreciate you.
Funeral services for Stephen Hallick will be held at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service (Yorktown Blvd location) on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, with visitation from 5-7 p.m., Trisagion at 7 p.m., and a reception to follow.
Contributions in memoriam for Stephen can be made to Foster Angels of South Texas, Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
