Nicholas Gabriel Mendez, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was a remarkable individual whose presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He touched the lives of countless people with his kind heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for his family. Nicholas was born on June 21, 1981, the son of Gabriel Enrique Mendez and Laura Lee Turnbow.
A man of many passions and interests, Nicholas found great joy in spending time with his children. He took immense pleasure in watching them play sports, cheering them on from the sidelines with contagious enthusiasm. Beyond this shared bond through sports, he also delighted in biking adventures alongside his beloved children. Nicholas had a deep appreciation for cars.
In celebrating Nicholas's life, it is important to honor those who preceded him in death: his grandparents Edward and Elsa Mendez and Wesley and Arlene Turnbow. Though they are no longer with us physically, their spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
A devoted husband and father, Nicholas cherished his role in his family above all else. He was a pillar of strength for his wife, Dawn Mendez, and their children Alyssa P. Mendez of Des Moines, Iowa; Morgan Whitlock; Brooke Whitlock both residing in Villa Rica, Georgia; Hunter Mendez from Powder Springs, Georgia; Austin Mendez and Cullen Mendez both hailing from Marietta, Georgia. Nicholas and his wife Dawn are expecting a baby in the spring. Nicholas’s love for his family knew no bounds, and he poured his heart and soul into nurturing their happiness and well-being.
Nicholas's memory will also be carried on by his surviving family members and cherished friends who were blessed to have him in their lives. His brothers Ryan and Lena Mendez of Acworth, Georgia, and Jesse and Raquel Mendez of Marietta, Georgia will forever hold dear the memories they shared growing up together. Nicholas’s uncles Larry Mendez of New Jersey and John Turnbow of Texas will undoubtedly remember him as a beacon of love within the family. Additionally, his step-grandmother, Sonja Turnbow; nephews Vincent Mendez, Liam Mendez, Logan Mendez, were fortunate to experience his unwavering love, as well as two eagerly anticipated nephews soon to arrive,
It is worth mentioning that Nick's relationship with Dawn's family was equally special and deserving of recognition. They offered him warmth, support, and a sense of belonging that he treasured deeply.
Nicholas Gabriel Mendez was a remarkable individual whose impact on those around him cannot be overstated. He possessed a rare combination of kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. As we bid farewell to Nick in his physical form, may we take solace in the memories we shared with him and find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will forever reside within our hearts.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
