Nicholas Dominique Ortegon

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas Dominique Ortegon, born on July 1, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas. Nicholas departed this world on February 22, 2026, at the age of 35, due to natural causes. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Nicholas, a beloved son to Keith Hastings and Jacqueline "Jackie" Hastings, a devoted brother, uncle, nephew, and grandson, touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. His playful nature and passion for life were evident in everything he did-whether it was cruising around the property in the mule, collecting Hot Wheels, or playing with his 18-wheelers.

He is survived by his parents, sisters Ludana Gutierrez, Nikita Salazar, and Kayla Murphy, and many nieces and nephews. 

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: dancing to music, spending time outdoors, and enjoying family camping trips and beach outings. Nicholas had a special knack for bringing smiles to the faces of his nieces and nephews, often entertaining them with his mischievous antics-like "borrowing" their hats and sunglasses or sneaking sips of Diet Dr Pepper. His warmth, humor, and boundless affection made him a cherished presence in the lives of those around him.

In Nicholas's memory, a public viewing will be held at Primrose Funeral Services in Devine on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M., allowing family and friends to gather and share in their reflections and stories of his life. A Mass celebrating his life will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM, interment to follow in Moore Memorial Cemetery.

As we gather to honor Nicholas, we will hold tight to the memories of his love, laughter, and adventurous spirit. He may be gone from our sight, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
