The Sego Family

We will remember Nick as a bright, shining light with a gentle soul. He had the gift of understated and exceptional intelligence and could allow others to shine under his kind, heartwarming silence and talents. Nick was the epitome of what it means to be a loving human being. We first met Nick when he was in high school, where those attributes often went uncelebrated, unnoticed, and underappreciated. My 4-year-old daughter knew he was special. She knew then, and she knows now, that Nick was her first "big crush." What a perfect guy to have a crush on. Hopefully, she will continually look for Nick's attributes in her relationships and never settle for less. My eldest daughter recently recounted that when we left Kate to babysit, she knew they would be okay because Nick would cook for them, usually a quesadilla, their favorite. To Amy, my girls will never forget the Christmas gift you sent when Nick and Kate were dating. Nick, your body is gone, but your Soul remains with every person who had the privilege of knowing you. And to Nick's family, while we may not know you well, we knew you through Nick and love you the same way we loved him. Rest in peace, Nick.

I will miss coming in every morning to work and talking to you and telling you "what´s up". What I´ll miss more importantly is seeing you in the break room eating either a protein bar or any sugary treat that bakery had put into the break room at 8 am. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.

Nick was one of my best friends growing up. I strived to be as agile as he was on skis, rollerblades, trampolines, and more. We shared a lot of experiences together and learned a lot from each other. He was the smartest person I knew, and we would sit together for hours theorizing about life´s biggest questions, space travel, and physics. He turned me on to the deep poetic lyricism of Atmosphere, my favorite musical artist. Nick touched so many people´s hearts in amazing ways, and truly will be missed. "Asparagus" Nick, I love you brotha.

Our family had the privilege of knowing Nick since the kids were in middle school. We all spent a lot of time together. One memory that always stands out was our trip to Park City together. Nick was the oldest of all the kids. His adventurous spirit and infectious laughter made the trip so much better. He took care of everyone. Everyone looked up to Nick. He was quiet but when he spoke everyone listened.
Nick was so smart and so loving. Always loved talking with him.
We spent a lot of time up at his house. Amy would feed us and the kids all jumped on trampoline. Jumped off the stairs to a big mattress and also had these skate shoes that they would ride down the stairs. We all loved going up there and being with Nick and family.
Nicks kindness and genuine heart made a lasting impression on me. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
So sorry for this tragic and devastating loss.

They say our paths cross for a reason, a season or a lifetime. I only knew Nick for 5 months, but in that short time he had a profound effect on my life and reinforced so many life lessons around patience, forgiveness, non-judgement, compassion and gratitude. He made me a better person. I will miss his kind, gentle soul and radiant smile and his memories will live in my heart forever. My heart aches for his family and friends during this unbearable time.

I´ll forever remember how Nick took my youngest child, Tyler, under his wing and skied all day with him when Wade and Tyler P. didn´t want him following them. He was such a sweet and generous young man! I´m so sad to hear that he is gone. Much love to Amy, Mike and Tyler. May you all find some peace in what must be hardest time of your lives.

I fell in love with Nick the first time I saw him rollerblading at the Edwards skatepark. I´d never seen anything cooler than this boy with bright blue eyes doing a backflip like it was the easiest thing in the world. Lucky for me, I got to know him on a deeper level over the course of our high school years.
The name Nick Peterson will forever echo through the walls of my childhood home, just from how often I talked about this dreamy, kind, incredibly cute boy.
Nick was everything I wanted to be. He was my first love. Undeniably likeable, talented, quietly intelligent, patient, and gentle. People often commented on how we were polar opposites-and in many ways, we were-but I´m grateful for that. Knowing Nick shaped the way I see the world. He taught me so much about myself just by being who he was.
At a time when I was still figuring out who I was-learning to love the parts of me I didn´t like-Nick showed me I was worthy of love.
I hope in this life and the next, he knew how truly special he was. He will be missed.

I was heartbroken to hear about Nick's passing. He spent many days in my home during his HS years, and I remember him with so much fondness.
Nick, Kate and his Mini Cooper are forever etched in my mind a snapshot of those youthful days.
One memory that always makes me smile is how much Kates 4-year old cousin had the biggest crush on him, whenever he was at the house she would find a way to get between he and Kate- Nick had such natural warmth and kindness.
Please know you are in my heart during this unimaginable time, Nick touched many lives with his light
