Nicholas A.J. Stock (Nick) died on January 26, 2024, in Charlotte, NC, USA after a courageous battle with
cancer. Nick was a wonderful husband and devoted father, caring, selfless, and master historian to all
who knew him. He is remembered for his love of the outdoors, his need to explore and connect with the
world he lived in, and sharing keenly ("I've got a book on that...") with others.
Nick is survived by his wife of 36 years, Katherine; his children David (Mikayla), Matthew and Annabel;
his mother Carole; sister Isobel; brother Jonathan, and extended family.
Nick was born in London, UK on March 27, 1962. He spent his childhood in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK
where he excelled at school in all subjects especially Math and Physics. As a teen, Nick developed a
lifelong interest in reading, history, geology, and in particular historical gaming. He was always willing to
share his love of these subjects with anyone, making childhood visits to British battlefields far more
interesting than any guidebook. His detailed miniature figure painting, historically accurate period and
genre collections, and impressive terrain construction were always produced to the minutest details and
were renowned and much admired amongst his fellow gaming friends.
Nick graduated (BSc Honors in Physics) from Imperial College, London and went on to become a
Chartered Accountant which took him to live in New Zealand, The Netherlands, and the USA, and travel
all over the world on many business trips. Nick always said yes when asked to go and was known by his
work colleagues for his dependability, quiet intelligence, and team leadership.
Nick was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, a tribute/memorial gift in Nick's name can be made to the National Park Foundation in
the US, English Heritage in the UK, or the New Zealand Nature Fund. A celebration of Nick's life will be
held at a later date, details to be provided.

I met Nick a few years ago over a gaming table. We hadn´t seen one another for quite a while but had recently reconnected again around a game table. We enjoyed playing miniatures games especially Congo where he was a patient and kind teacher for those of us who were new. I am so sorry to know he has passed. He was a fine gentleman who will be missed.

Nick was a very dear colleague of mine at Diversey and Sealed Air. My best memory was in March 2002, when we for the first time went to a meeting of JohnsonDiversey in Racine, Wisconsin (2 months before the transaction) and thereafter spent half a day together exploring Chicago, before travelling back to our respective home countries. I am sure Nick got to know Chicago much better thereafter as it became his region to live for many years. Many other years of working and socialising together followed, until we split again in 2017, when Nick stayed with Sealed Air and I continued in Diversey. Rest in Peace, Nick!
