Nick (Niko) Constantinides February 14, 1942 – March 9, 2024 (age 82)
Nick Constantinides, a true renaissance man, who could literally fix anything and then serve you a loaf of his fresh homemade bread - a man who fiercely loved his friends and family (especially his grandchildren), who was addicted to his Pontiaka music, Sports, Sudoku and "telling it straight", passed away on March 9, 2024.
Nick was born in the small village of Ximerino, a town just outside Kozani, Greece. Orphaned during the Greek Civil War, he was raised by his loving sister Fani (Symo) Mavridis. At the age of 18, his natural intellect and thirst for knowledge gave him the opportunity to attend college in Chicago, Illinois. It was there he met his beautiful Nicky. Her sisters Maria, Voula and Affie became his sisters, her parents, became his parents. After graduation from University of Illinois, in Electrical Engineering, Nick and Nicky made it official and were married on July 4, 1965.
Nick raised his family in Chicago and was extremely proud to have sponsored his two sisters and their families to come to the US. This reuniting of his own family meant everything to him and instilled in his three sons the joy, love and honor of being a brother, a father and a true Kyrios (gentleman).
In 1999, Nick and Nicky moved to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to their grandsons and extended family. Over the years Nick enjoyed watching and guiding his grandsons to excel in sports, academics and everything in between. He was equally overjoyed to spend the winter months in Los Angeles, California, where he was able to support and encourage his granddaughters. He emersed himself into the arts -- from their Musical Theatre Produc.ons to Vocal Jazz concerts he loved it all. His most important influence and what brought him the most joy, was spending his summers with all his children and grandchildren in Greece. He loved sharing his memories, family history, language and culture with everyone especially his grandchildren. In the last twelve years, Nick loved to come to work every morning at his son's eatery "LOOPS". Whether you were a blood related employee, a customer or a lifetime employee, to Nick, you were family.
Nick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nicoletta (Nicky) Koronis Constantinides; sons, Peter (Melina), Andrew (Maria) and Jim Constantinides; grandchildren, Zoe, Niko, Karina and Theo; sisters, Agathula Mavridis and Sophia (Niko) Karipides. He is also survived by loving sisters and brothers in law, and so many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, both here in the US and in Greece.
Greek Orthodox services will be held on Saturday March 16, 2024 11:30 am at O. R. Woodyard 2990 Bethel Rd. Columbus, Ohio.
