Nicolas Daniel Hayes Playter passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 11, 2023. Nicolas was born in Escuintla, Guatemala on August 7, 1998 as an identical twin. His brother died shortly after birth. He was matched with his adoptive, forever family, and brought to the U.S at the age of 11 months. He attended Cherry Creek Schools, graduating from Grandview High School in 2017. As a youth, he enjoyed playing soccer and baseball. Upon graduation from high school, he attended the Community College of Denver for several semesters and worked multiple jobs. He wanted to pursue a career in the trades. At the time of his death, he was employed full time at the Wheatlands, YMCA as a lifeguard, a job he loved.
Nic was an avid sports fan and he never missed a Green-Bay Packers game or rooting for the Guatemalan and Brazilian National Soccer Teams. Nic loved animals especially his dog, Wally. He was interested in music of all kinds, video games, travel, talking politics and the great outdoors of Colorado and Wisconsin. He was particularly fond of sushi. He cherished his Guatemalan heritage and loved its vibrant use of color. Nic will be remembered as a kind hearted, loving, funny, loyal and generous person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Nic is survived by his loving family, parents Anne Playter and Douglas Hayes, and his much loved and admired brother, Andrew. His family also includes multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins.
