It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nicolasa Reyes Perez, a devoted mother, grandmother, cherished friend, and beloved member of our community, who left this world on November 13, 2025. Born on August 28, 1932, in San Pedro de la Sierra, Zacatecas, Mexico, Nicolasa lived a life steeped in love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Nicolasa was the proud daughter of Maria Isac Garcia and Adolfo Reyes. She grew up in a humble setting, where education was a luxury she could not fully experience, completing less than 8th grade. Yet, her wisdom and strength were profound, qualities that she would later impart to her eleven children.
In her early years, Nicolasa married Aristeo Perez in Huejuquilla el Alto, Jalisco, and together they built a life filled with love. Their partnership lasted for 28 beautiful years before she was widowed. Despite the challenges life threw her way, Nicolasa never wavered in her commitment to her family. She was a stay-at-home mom who devoted her life to raising her children: Jose Carmen, Tanilo, Santana, Julio, Felipe, Chepo, Graciela, Chemo, Layo, Nico, and Teresita. Along with 46 grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great Great Grandchildren. Her selflessness knew no bounds; she often went without eating to ensure her children had enough to eat, and she showcased remarkable resourcefulness by repurposing flour sacks into clothing for her kids.
A woman of deep faith, Nicolasa was raised Catholic and held a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary, which guided her through life's trials and tribulations. Her spirituality was a foundation for her family, instilling in them the values of compassion and charity.
Nicolasa had a passion for crocheting and sewing, hobbies that allowed her to create beautiful items for her family, but also served as a means of teaching her children the importance of creativity and hard work. Her hands, worn from years of labor, were always busy, whether in the kitchen preparing meals or crafting gifts for those she loved.
She spent her later years in Salem, Oregon, where her spirit and legacy continued to shine brightly within her community. Nicolasa was known for her unwavering work ethic and her ability to create a welcoming home filled with warmth and love. She was not just a mother but a steadfast pillar of strength for her family, always ensuring that there was food on the table and love in abundance.
Nicolasa is survived by her loving children Jose Carmen, Tanilo, Santana, Julio, Felipe, Chepo, Graciela, Chemo, and Teresita, who carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and resourcefulness.
A funeral service to honor Nicolasa's life will be held on November 22, 2025, at 8:30 AM St. Vincent's De Paul and a graveside service at 11:30am at Restlawn Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of this extraordinary woman.
As we say our goodbyes to Nicolasa Reyes Perez, let us remember her unwavering love and the countless sacrifices she made for her family. Her life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith, and her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
