Nicole Cecile Brown

Nicole Cecile Brown was born on April 15th, 1988, to Suzanne Elizabeth Jones and Robert Guy Brown in Toronto, Canada. Nicole attended elementary, middle, and high school in Toronto before moving to the USA with her mom and stepdad dad Dr. Keith Jones, in 2004. She graduated from Rose Hill High School six months early in 2006 with a 3.8 GPA and was on the Dean's Honor Roll. She loved to play soccer and was really into fashion. A true “girlie girl”.

She had a rare kind of presence, warm, generous, and beautifully genuine. Nicole always had a way of making people feel welcome by offering kindness without hesitation. Her laughter, quick wit, and beautiful smile touched everyone she encountered. She lived with a softness that never weakened her and a resilience that never hardened her. Nicole was very loyal. She loved Jesus and her family with her whole heart.

On November 30, 2008, Nicole was in a tragic car accident that nearly took her life. After waking up from her coma, she needed to relearn everything. With hard work, determination, and an amazing group of therapists, she got a little bit stronger each day. She went from a wheelchair to a walker to walking again. All of this while Jesus walked right beside her. In May 2011, Nicole took part in the Jim Thorpe Courage Walk and went on to win the Jim Thorpe Courage Award later that year.

Nicole began attending Oak Hills Baptist Church with her family in 2010. She had a passion for helping others and especially loved her mission trips to El Salvador. She volunteered in many capacities at Oak Hills, such as the prayer team, meal prep, children’s ministries, hospitality team, and special community outreach events. One year, someone convinced her to dress up like the Easter bunny and she nailed it.

In 2012, Nicole was baptized in the Lord and was never shy about sharing her faith. She radiated God’s love and often spoke of His grace in her life. People felt safe in her presence and always looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile. Her most rewarding jobs were working with special needs children and the elderly. She just had a beautiful, soft way of relating to them that left them feeling loved and valued.

Nicole had a special relationship with her nephew, Greyson Jones. He loved spending time with his “Auntie CaCole” at the park, the lake, and every splash pad that she could find. She truly cherished her time with him, especially after his mother went to be with Jesus.

She was quite the movie buff and especially loved watching them on the big screen. Nicole also loved music and concerts. She often told people that she was only 2 1/2 when she attended her first concert. (New Kids On The Block) Nicole loved to travel with her family and friends. One of her favorite vacations was to Hawaii and, most recently, to Jamaica to celebrate what would have been her sister’s 30th birthday.

Nicole was an avid reader and loved to journal daily. She loved to study the Bible with others in person and on the YouVersion Bible App. One of the last Bible verses that she highlighted was Hebrews 1:11: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Guy Brown, sister Kelsey Jones, cousin Jason Vidito, and grandmothers, Elizabeth Lazar and Mildred Vidito.

She is survived by her parents, Dr. Keith and Suzanne Jones, her nephew Greyson, and a vast number of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
