Nieves Poon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 26, 2025.
Nieves Poon, born on May 15, 1920, in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines to parents Victoriano Ocampo and Casimira Miranda, peacefully passed away at the incredible age of 104. In 1985, she migrated to the United States, where she spent the rest of her life surrounded by her loving family. Known affectionately as "Nanay Nena," she led a long, fulfilling life defined by her love, strength, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished.
Nieves was the devoted wife of the late Bruno Poon and a proud mother to seven children: Edgardo, Marita, Cesar, Conrado, Teresa, Victoriano, and Elizabeth. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy, now carried on by her 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, who will forever treasure her memory. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Victoriano Poon, and her sister, Lydia Pascual.
Nieves was beloved for her sweet and loving nature. Her sharp memory and caring spirit earned the admiration of all who knew her. She found joy in the simplest pleasures of life, from watching The Price Is Right, which brought her endless entertainment, to her passion for stitching, a hobby that highlighted her patience and creativity.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and honor Nieves's life at a funeral service on March 27, 2025, at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida 32073. The service will begin at 2:00PM. A viewing will take place the evening before, March 26, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location.
Nieves's warmth, kindness, and devotion have left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will continue to provide comfort and inspiration to those who loved her. After 104 years of a remarkable life, she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Bruno Poon and all of her friends and family that have gone before her, in heaven.
