Candler - Nina Webb Moore, age 81 of Candler, N.C., went to be with her Lord on January 2, 2022 after several years of declining health.
Nina was born and raised in Mitchell County, N.C. where she spent her childhood reading books and playing the piano for her church. She graduated from Bowman High School in 1958 and moved to Asheville to attend Blanton’s Business College. She had a successful career as an administrative assistant, retiring from N.C. State University Minerals Research Laboratory in 2006 and Givens Estates in 2017.
Nina was very active in the church for many years. She loved to sing in the church choir and was always ready to serve other members, either by cooking a meal for them or visiting. She was a founding member of Ecclesia Baptist Church of Fairview, N.C. She loved her church and missed attending when her health declined.
Nina is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Webb, Sr. and Esther Conley Webb; her siblings, Stella Armstrong, Oscar Webb, Jr, and Virginia Cameron. She was a loving and devout mother to her three surviving children, Michael Moore (Caroline) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Steven Moore of Candler, NC, and Tara Lewis (Chris) of Candler, NC. Nina is survived by her grandchildren, Kayleen May (Robert), Smythe Lewis, Andrew Moore, and Emily Moore; her great grandchildren, Emory May and Tucker May; numerous nieces and nephews with whom she was very close.
Nina was a beautiful person inside and out with such a pleasant demeanor. She was a great friend to many and shared an abundance of wonderful memories with them. She loved to invite people to her house, especially during the holidays and made sure you left with a full stomach. Her most profound and lasting impression was on the beautiful people who cared for her at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation for the last 20 months of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Aileen Lawrimore officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
