Noah Barham, 88, of Chesapeake passed into the loving care of his Lord and Savior on Thursday January 8, 2026. He was born on August 24, 1937 in Southampton County to the late Paul Washington Barham and Margaret Beale Barham.
He is preceded in death by his adoring wife, Patricia Brickhouse Barham, his brothers Robert and Buddy Barham, and his sisters Irma Pepper, Eunice Copeland, Gladys Riddick, and Frances Sellers. Additionally Noah is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Noah is also survived by his special friends: John Fenn, Joyce Hicks, Susan Mitchell (all from Chesapeake), and Tammy Williams of Suffolk.
Noah will be remembered as a loving, devoted husband and generous, funny friend to all he met. Family members remember that he took care of his "mama and daddy" (as he always referred to them) for many years. Noah loved the Lord, and received great satisfaction in church, at revivals and Bible studies, and visiting and ministering to sick friends in hospitals and rehab. Noah lived simply and was a kind, faithful, and obedient steward to his Lord,
Noah will also be remembered for his devotion to the Washington Redskins/Commanders, Baltimore Orioles, and Norfolk Tides. Additionally, Noah will be remembered for his enthusiastic viewing of cowboy show reruns, his "happy go lucky" demeanor, and the joy he brought at his favorite places, including The Church of the Prophecy of God, Egg Bistro (his favorite restaurant), Shear Impressions Salon, and Lighthouse Point (where Noah resided for 3 fun filled years). He proudly worked for the City of Chesapeake for 37&1/2 years where he had a variety of jobs: stump grinder, road construction and repair, city beautification, and any job where he could drive a truck.
Visitation for Noah will begin on Friday January 16, 2026 with special friends receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home and Cemetery 653 Cedar Road 23322.
A Celebration of Noah's life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 17, 2026 in The Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home and Cemetery. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens 524 Cedar Rd,
Chesapeake, Va 23322.
Participants are welcome to honor Noah by wearing any Redskins/Commanders attire and/or colors (burgundy and gold), or Baltimore Orioles and Norfolk Tides attire or colors..In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Noah's honor to your church or favorite charity. Noah loved to help people and use to note that money for an expensive car or house could help "a lot of people."
