NONA M. STELLA (nee Beemer) age 79, beloved wife for 56 years of Phil; loving mother of Peter (wife Rossana) and Andrew (wife Laura); devoted grandmother of Gabriella, Luciano, Zola and Frances; cherished daughter of the late Robert “Duck” and Helen (nee Randa) Beemer; sister-in-law of Michael and Mary Jane Stella. Nona was born March 24, 1945 in Springfield, Illinois. Upon graduating from Springfield High School in 1963, she continued her education by earning her degree from Wartburg College in 1967. Her employment journey started in Danville, Illinois as an elementary school teacher. Nona then moved to Ohio where she taught in Parma and then specialized in English as a Second Language (ESL) at Mayfield Middle School and Lander Elementary School, retiring in 2010. With her social and engaging personality, Nona delighted in traveling throughout the USA and Europe. Nature had a way of drawing Nona outside, where she enjoyed walking in the metro parks, playing with her dogs, bird watching or just observing. Music was of special interest to Nona, especially jazz and classical. Above all, she cherished the time that she and her husband spent with their children and grandchildren. On May 26, 2024, this compassionate, empathetic, and caring woman passed away leaving her family missing her giving and loving ways.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Nona to Treasured Memories for a subsequent donation to the Cleveland Metro Parks “Nonie Fund”.
