NORA JEAN McGEE ALLEN

COX FUNERAL HOME

BASTROP, LOUISIANA

Nora Jean Allen, age 85, was born in Eudora, Arkansas on July 13, 1940 and went to her heavenly home on September 17, 2025 in Bastrop, Louisiana.

Mrs. Allen was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking for family and friends. Mrs. Allen never let anyone leave her house hungry or empty handed. She was known for her canning skills. If it could be put in a can she could make it happen. All of her grandchildren and great grandchildren loved her famous chicken and dumplings.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Calvin B. Allen, her parents William Claude McGee and Ruth Willis McGee, two sons Melvin W. Hunter and James "Jamie" Hunter, brothers Carl McGee and James McGee.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her son Robert Hunter and his wife Laura of Bastrop, Louisiana, brother Robert McGee of West Monroe, Louisiana, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many special friends and relatives.

A time of visitation for family and friends of Mrs. Nora Allen will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop followed by funeral services at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Bro. Glen Hutchison officiating. Committal services and burial will be at the Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.

Serving as pallbearers will be Freddy Hunter, Mitchell Hunter, Ricky Tharpe, Aaron Heintze, Ronald Scroggins, Dustin Hutchison, and Johnnie Middlebrooks. Honorary pallbearer is Roger Middlebrooks.
