Nora Beatrice “Bobbie” Bonham Ferris passed from her earthly life on June 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Bowers Hospice House. Bobbie was born on May 29, 1930, in Sprague, WV, to C. K. and Stella Blanche Wickline Bonham. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. She was married to Gene Graham Ferris on August 18, 1951, a marriage that lasted until Gene’s death in March of this year.
Bobbie devoted her life to her family. She worked at W T Grants only until the birth of her first son. Years later she worked briefly as a runner for Medical Records at Raleigh General Hospital. She was a wonderful homemaker, and a dedicated Mom and MomMom to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Gene hosted many Fall Fest family get-togethers at their cabin in Monroe County. Bobbie enjoyed family vacations with her boys and extended family, as well as many fun and exciting road trips over the years. She was an active lifelong member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 71 years 7 months, Gene, her eldest son Gregory Gene, and her grandson, Jonathan Chad Ferris. Also preceded in death by 3 infant brothers, Johnny, Everette Ray and Frankie Dell, 3 brothers, James Albert, Kellis Davis, Ted, and Lawrence Gene, and 2 sisters, Helen Margarette Lytton and Clara Kathleen Childs.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, John and wife Sharon of Hagerstown, MD, and Jeff of Annapolis, MD, grandchildren Holly Seitz and husband Eric of Westminster, MD, Lauren and Lindsay Ferris of Elkridge, MD, and 2 great grandchildren Emma Seitz and Cash Ferris Reid. Also left to cherish her memory are brother Don Bonham of Crab Orchard, and sister Ruth Peters and husband Wayne, also of Crab Orchard, as well as many special nieces and nephews and extended family who loved her very much.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Calfee Funeral Home. Friends may meet the family on Friday, June 16, from 11 – 12 :00. The service will begin at noon with Rev. Dewey Lowe and Rev. Mike Sisson officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Crab Orchard Baptist Church, P.O. Box 446, Crab Orchard, WV 25827
