WORCESTER-Norbert F. Cardinal, 91, passed away Wednesday, December 3 in St. Vincent Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 71 years, Therese R. (Richard) Cardinal; three children, Dennis Cardinal and his wife, Mary of Webster, Donna Sargent and her husband, William of Leicester and Daniel Cardinal and his wife, Candra of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Jimmy, Mark, Jason, Michael, Daniel, Jordann, Colton, Ava and Amelia; four great grandchildren, Alexander, Charli Ann, Callum and Elliana and nieces and nephews. A son David Cardinal, a granddaughter, Melissa Sargent and three siblings predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Norbert and Dorothy (Shea) Cardinal and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. He served in the US Army.
Nobby as he was known to family and friends worked at the Worcester Sheriff Department for 25 years, retiring as a Captain. Prior to that he was the head groundskeeper at Assumption College and State Mutual Assurance Company. He was a member of St. Andrew’s the Apostle Church and its men’s club. He was a former little league coach and Scout Master of Troop #88 and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council and the Main South American Legion Post.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, December 9 at 11am in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Private visiting hours will precede the Mass at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
