Norbert John Eggemeyer, 87, of El Campo, passed away April 24, 2025. He was born in El Campo on February 16, 1938 to the late Wilbard & Vera Shimek Eggemeyer. Norbert married Edith (Edie) Sablatura on Oct. 14, 1961 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Hillje, TX. Norbert proudly served in the US Army then six weeks after being released he was called back for the Berlin Crisis. He then went to work for Alcoa for 30 years. After retirement, he worked at Socha's carwash for more than ten years. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, K of C El Campo, Crime Stoppers, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Edith (Edie) Sablatura Eggemeyer; children, Greg Eggemeyer (Robin Sless), Fae (Gregory) Popp, and Curtis Eggemeyer; grandchildren, Jessica (Nathan) Drapela, Blake (Eve) Eggemeyer, Cassidy (Chris) Bird, Robin Eggemeyer and Morgan (Brandon) Baca; great-grandchildren, Paislyn, Breckyn, Knox, Anisyn Drapela, Brax Eggemeyer & Finn Bird and another great-granddaughter on the way; brothers, Butch Eggemeyer (Sharon), Victor Eggemeyer (Mable); sister, Jeanette Schneider (Glenn) and sisters-in-law, Paige Eggemeyer, Alene Hubenak, Marilyn Popp & Jeanette Stock.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbard & Vera Shimek Eggemeyer; brothers, Gene Eggemeyer and Freddy Eggemeyer; brothers-in-law, Bill Hubenak, Frank Popp and Francis (Bitty) Stock.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29 at Triska Funeral Home with a KC Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Hillje with the Rev. Wayne Flagg officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Blake Eggemeyer, Nathan Drapela, Chris Bird, Darrin Stock, Wes Schneider, Vance Eggemeyer and Brandon Baca.
Memorial donations in memory of Norbert may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, American Legion, or St. Philip Catholic School.
