Norbert King went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2024. Norbert was born May 13, 1941, to Walter and Catherine (Quirk) King of Portland, Connecticut. Norbert was predeceased by his parents, his brother Richard E. King, and daughter Lori Thompson. He leaves behind his wife Patricia (Ziobron) King, his daughters Danielle King, Dawn Causey Davis, Shari King, Karen Johnson, Denise McGill, Debra Lewis, Debbie King, and Donna Higdon, his brother Walter (Butch) King, his grandchildren: Austin, Jackson, Erin, Cathleen, Dayna, A.J., Richard, Brianna, Aaliyah, Gary, Brandon, Dustin, and Ricky and 11 great grandchildren as well as Erin and Roy Haight (family friends).
Norbert, AKA Duke, earned his electricians license while working for Pratt and Whitney. His career took him to General Electric, Crane & Company, Eastern Fine Paper, Augusta Newsprint Paper Mill, and Oregon Metallurgic Corporation where he worked as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. Duke volunteered for Disaster Relief in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina, as well as many other states and disasters. His volunteer work took him to Haiti, where he built a desalination plant. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Duke enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Moodus Sportsmen's Club, when he lived in East Haddam, Connecticut. He taught his family to fish and hunt. He spent many weekends working on cars, going to the dragstrip, and helping others with any projects they had. His love of hunting spanned many states from Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon, Georgia, and Florida. He retired to Melbourne, Florida in 2004. Duke loved to spend time with his daughters and grandsons, Austin and Jack.
