Norma E. Argall entered eternal life on Saturday, December 10. She was born Nov. 23, 1929 at Hatton, ND daughter of Axel and Alma (Ness) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Hatton. Norma attended country school and in 1948 graduated from Hatton High School. The following years she lived at Grand Forks, ND and was employed as a waitress.
In 1952 she married Robert Argall at St. John Lutheran Church, Hatton, ND. They have 9 children: Pastor Randy (Ann) Argall, Iowa City, IA; Duane (Mary) Argall, Maribel, WI; Louann (Michael) Kalinowski, Appleton, WI; Tim (Laurie) Argall, Chilton, WI; Kevin Argall, Oconto Falls, WI; Robert Jr. (Mary) Argall, Altoona, WI; Karl (Marcia) Argall, Appleton, WI; Todd (Amy) Argall, Pocatello, ID; Beth (Brent) Marshall, Verona, WI.
In 1969 the family moved to WI from their home at Northwood, ND. Norma was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, WI. She taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild Committee and was active in the monthly circle of Bible Study and Senior Christians. Over the years she helped in the church nursery while Young Mothers Circle had their Bible study. She also worked in several homes of friends who needed child care. Norma loved her extended family and taking part in activities. Reading, poetry, music, knitting, and playing Scrabble and Yahtzee were her favorites.
Survivors include her husband: Robert, nine children and their spouses, 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law: Pastor Elwood Skarpness, Moorhead, MN and Chester Argall, Jr, Grand Forks, ND; three sisters-in-law: Jean Anderson, Anoka, MN, Shirley Terrian, East Grand Forks, MN, and Elise Argall, Phoenix, AZ. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight sisters: Gladys Jodock, Northwood, ND; Agnes Collins, Bismarck, ND; Hattie Stinar Blaufuss, Grand Forks, ND; Helen Krueger, Puyallup, WA; Selma Streich, Haxton, CO; Elsie Skarpness, Moorhead, MN; two infant sisters Stella Margaret and Helen Ruth; 3 brothers: Pastor Ernest Nelson, La Crosse, WI, Roy Nelson, Aberdeen, SD, and an infant baby brother; her father- and mother-in-law Chester Sr. and Annie (Britten) Argall, Grand Forks, ND; seven brothers-in law: Gerald Argall, Phoenix, AZ, Alfred Anderson, Anoka, MN, Robert Streich, Grand Forks, ND, Irwin Stinar, Grand Forks, ND, Frank Blaufuss, Grand Forks, ND, Abner Jodock, Northwood, ND, Lyle Krueger, Puyallup, WA; two sisters-in-law: Lois Nelson, La Crosse, WI, and Susan Argall, Grand Forks, ND; a grandson Scott Argall.
Cremation has taken place with her cremains to be buried at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, WI. A memorial service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders, WI on Saturday, January 14 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Daniel Lyman.
