The garden changes with the seasons-what was once in full bloom now rests, waiting for its time to rise again. In His word, God reminds us, "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever." Life may shift and seasons may pass, but His promises remain, and His love never fades.
Mrs. Norma Jean Brugh, cherished daughter of the late Carol Miller and Paul Sceifres, and beloved stepdaughter of George Miller, was born on June 2, 1939, in LaPorte, Indiana. On August 5, 2025, while in peaceful slumber, Norma was called home to be with the Lord.
She spent her early years in LaPorte and graduated from LaPorte High School in 1957. It was somewhere in Indiana that Norma's lifelong love story began when she met her future husband, William George Brugh. The two were united in marriage on March 23, 1960, and shared 64 years of unwavering love and devotion. Their union was blessed with four sons, Mark, Rick, Kirk, and Kevin.
In the early years of their marriage, Norma devoted herself wholeheartedly to supporting her lifelong love, William, as he served in the United States Air Force, both stateside and abroad. During this chapter of their lives, they welcomed their children and embraced the joys and challenges of raising a young family in a military setting. Norma provided unwavering care and strength for their sons, anchoring the family through each transition.
When they returned to the United States for the final phase of William's military service, Norma remained a constant source of love and support. After William's honorable departure from the Air Force, he entered civilian life, and Norma continued to stand beside him-raising their children with deep devotion and building a home filled with warmth, values, and treasured memories.
For many years, the Brugh family called California home, a place where their family life blossomed. Eventually, seeking a change of pace and scenery, Norma and William chose to lay down new roots-first in Widefield, then in Woodland Park, and finally settling in the Black Forest area all of Colorado, where they continued to grow together and enjoy the fruits of a life well-lived.
As the years passed and Norma watched her boys grow into men and start families of their own, she gracefully embraced her new role as a grandmother. She found deep joy in family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where her home was filled with laughter, warmth, and love. Norma cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, sharing heartfelt stories, offering gentle wisdom, and showering each one with unconditional love. To Norma, every grandchild was unique and deeply special in their own way. She treasured each hug, every conversation, and all the time she was given with them-holding tight to the moments that meant the most.
Norma Brugh was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a source of wisdom, a giver of guidance, and a loyal friend to many.
Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William; her mother, Carol; her stepfather, George; and her father, Paul. She is survived by her brother, Tom; her sister-in-law, Judy; her four sons, Mark, Rick, Kirk, and Kevin; and her daughters-in-law, Karen, Joni, and Jeanette. Norma's legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
