Norma Mae (Andrew) Cantwell October 31, 1930 – July 1, 2025 Norma Mae (Andrew) Cantwell, age 94, passed away in her home in Tullahoma, Tennessee on July 1, 2025. Born in Nemaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Abrams Andrew and Claudia Mae (Chandler) Andrew.
Norma grew up in Nemaha, Nebraska but lived in California, Texas, Ohio and Tennessee. Norma was a multifaceted woman with many talents. She had many occupations, but some of her most long standing were as a dental assistant and as a county court clerk and with motor vehicle departments. She was an avid gardener and at one point was the caretaker of a large farm. Norma was involved with the community no matter where she lived. She was surrounded by good friends and made contributions to local endeavors such as garden and bridge clubs. Most recently, she was loved and supported by her sister-neighbors Marion Sharber and Jeanne Staskowski. Norma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was ready to lend a helping hand and to offer sage advice. She made efforts to visit family no matter where they might be. She would roll up her sleeves and help with any project that needed to be done. You could count on her for a home cooked meal and delicious desserts, and to be a gracious and generous host. During family games nights, she was fun and often the most likely to win. After she was widowed, she rescued her beloved Gigi, a ShihTzu that she cared for for Gigi's entire life. Gigi was her constant companion and became like a member of the family. Everything Norma did was infused with style and grace. She was an impeccable dresser and had an eye for design and art. She hand painted china, made china dolls, created cards and dried leaf designs. She made clothes and linens, remodeled furniture, arranged flowers and was always on the lookout for a new creative adventure. She continued to learn throughout her life. She earned a GED certificate after the age of 50 and began piano lessons in her 70s. She was an inspiration and model to follow. Norma was one of a kind and will be sorely missed by her loved ones.
