Mary Helen Plunkett

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a devoted and cherished mother, Mary Helen Grant Plunkett. Born on May 26th, 1943, Mrs. Plunkett passed this life at the age of 82 on September 15th, 2025 at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton - Hospital.

Mary Helen lived a life of devotion. As a child, she completed grades K-12 and graduated high school with exemplary attendance not missing a single day of learning. As a young woman, she devoted herself to her work at a chiropractic clinic and Prescott Bottling Company.

On May 12, 1974, Mary Helen married the love of her life, James Norman Plunkett. She loved nothing more than preparing a homemade meal for James when he would come home for lunch. Together, they had one son, James Jason Plunkett whom they loved with all their hearts. Mary Helen and James were married one month shy of fifty years. Mary Helen enjoyed cooking, specifically pies, and talking with her friends.

Jason, Mary Helen's son, shares that Mary Helen was the best mother anyone could ask for. She will be missed beyond words. Her life of devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Mary Helen is survived by her loving son, James Jason Plunkett; her sister-in-law Joanne Darden (Ray); nephew Tommy Darden (Cam), niece Joy White; great nephew Riley Darden, great niece Tabitha Sehorne (Tyler); great-great nieces Ellie and Emmie; and many cousins. Special thanks and love to Michael McAnly and Stephen Trousdale. She was preceded in death by her loving husband James Norman Plunkett and her parents Roy and Mary Edna Grant.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Tullahoma Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tullahoma.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who cared for and loved her well. Also, a special thank you to Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton - Hospital for their loving care for her.
