Norma Jeanne Capps

Norma Jeanne (Smolka) Capps, age 83, was born on December 1, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and passed away on December 31, 2025, in Centerville, Utah.

Norma was born to Louis Allen Smolka and Velma (Cox) Smolka. She married Russell Dee Capps Sr., who preceded her in death on December 5, 2003.

She is survived by her children Tracy Dewey, married to (Paul Allen Dewey), and Jennifer Ann Tela, married to (Emmett Tela). She was preceded in death by her son Russell Dee Capps Jr. Norma is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Norma was a loving, caring, and strong woman, a devoted homemaker and mother and grandmother. As a resilient military wife, she willingly moved her family many times in support of her husband's career, always creating a warm and steady home wherever life took them. Above all else, her family and her home were her greatest priorities.

She was well known for her famous éclairs and her love of gardening, often spending countless hours tending to her garden. Norma was plainspoken and honest, never afraid to speak her mind, and those who knew her appreciated her sincerity and strength.

Norma participated faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the majority of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3 2026. A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Larkin Mortuary 260 E South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111.
