Potts Funeral Chapel - IndependenceNorma Jean (Wiltfong) Graves, age 84, passed away on October 14, 2025, peacefully at Eagle Estates in Independence, Kansas. She had fought cancer for several years.
She was an only child, born at home in Severy, Kansas to Irwin Wesley Wiltfong and Mary Etta (Sherman) Wiltfong. She was then raised on a farm by Oak Valley, Kansas. She lost her mother to cancer at age twelve.
Her and her father spent years on the same farm until Norma married Jimmy Lee Graves from Independence, Kansas. They had two children together; Valorie Jean (Graves) Allan, now from Owasso, Oklahoma, and Ricky Lee Graves, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, now deceased. They were later divorced.
Valorie later married Shawn Wayne Allan and they had two girls; Nicole Jean (Allan) Kincaid and Erica Jean (Allan) Snow. Nicole later married Nicholas Wayne Kincaid from Tulsa, Oklahoma. They later had a daughter, Tia Jean Kincaid. Erica later married Donald Loyd Snow Jr. from Tulsa, Oklahoma. They had a son Dexter Loyd Snow. Norma's son Ricky married Barbara O' Neal and had a son, Justin Lee Graves. Ricky also had a step-daughter, Angela (High) Hall.
Norma loved music. She could play all kinds of instruments, although her favorites were the piano and guitar. She played and sang in several bands through her lifetime. She had a God given talent of only being able to play by ear. She had quite a wit about her. She loved her family, friends, and pets with all her heart.
Norma was a member of the church of the Bretheron in Independence, Kansas.
Memorial contributions can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 1503 W 11th St, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Friends and family will gather at Potts Chapel at 8:30AM, Thursday, October 23, and will proceed to Oak Valley Cemetery in Oak Valley, Kansas, for a Graveside Service at 10:00AM. Coordinates 37.34310, -95.99970.
