Norma Ruth Griggs Hamilton, 93, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 6, 1931, to Minnie Baker and Charles “Charlie” Griggs.
Ruth had a passion for gardening and took great joy in tending to her flowers. She was also an excellent baker, known especially for her pear tarts. She dedicated many years to working in the preschool at Glad Tidings Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen “Steve” Hamilton (Cindy) and Mark Hamilton (Tina); grandchildren, Todd (Rosalind), Chad, Jared (Allison), Brandon, Christine, Chelsea, Amber, Ashley (Luke), Brooke (Josh), and Autumn; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Sadie, Caleb, Max, Coy, Emery, Gracelyn, Chantem, Fisher, Legend, Ayden, Kruz, Charlee, Demi, Scotti, Kayson, and Beckham; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Delbert Anderson Hamilton; her parents, Minnie Baker and Charles Griggs; her son, Darrell Hamilton; and her siblings, Vincil Griggs, Paul Griggs, Charles Griggs, and Marie Rodgers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, April 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Prien Cemetery.
