Norma Hunter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Chapel - Fort Smith on Dec. 31, 2025.
Norma "Sissy" Faye Hunter, age 76, of Alma, Arkansas, passed away on December 29, 2025. Sissy was born on May 14, 1949, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to parents James Reynolds and Lucille Brown. Sissy was united in marriage to the love of her life on December 17, 1964, to Billy Hunter Sr., and they enjoyed 59 precious years of marriage. Sissy worked for Whirlpool in Fort Smith for over 40 years.

Sissy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, James and Lucille; three brothers, DL "Bones," Benny, and Mark; one sister, Freda; and one granddaughter, Amber. She is survived by three children, Billy Hunter and wife Nancy; Donna Hunter; and Virgil "Bosco" Hunter and wife Lora; sister, Paula Brosnan and husband Paul; brothers, James "Traylor" Reynolds and wife Teila and Harlen Hayes; grandchildren, Chuck Sims, Misty Hunter, Brandon Hunter, Jeremy Hughes, Zane Hunter, and Ethan Hunter; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sissy enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, and spoiling her beloved dog, Charlie. For much of her life, the racetrack was a second home, where she faithfully cheered on her husband, followed in later years by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved traveling with family and friends to vacation and explore new places, but her most treasured adventures were always those spent alongside her lifelong partner and sidekick, Bill.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Highway in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with Brother Tommy Osman officiating. The family would like to invite family and friends to a reception held afterward at the Eagle Lighthouse Tabernacle Fellowship Hall, located at 2800 Hendricks Blvd in Fort Smith. We ask that those who plan to attend please bring a side dish.
