Norma S. Lute

Norma S. (Henderson) Lute, 89, of Washington, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Eastgate Manor in Washington, IN.

She was born on October 20, 1935, to the late Kenneth and LaVora (Druart) Henderson in Columbus, IN.

Norma was a 1953 graduate of Columbus High School. On January 1, 1958, Norma married the love of her life, Robert L. Lute, and they shared over 59 years together before he preceded her in death on April 19, 2017.

Norma and Bob owned and operated Washington Glass in Washington for 53 years. She was a longstanding member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Washington and was proud of her faith. In her free time, Norma enjoyed reading books, working crossword puzzles, playing computer games, and watching baseball games. She also enjoyed showing cats with her daughter, Cynthia.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia R. Lute of Washington, IN, and John R. Lute of Las Vegas, NV; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and LaVora; her husband, Robert L. Lute; her brother, Charles Henderson; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.

Visitation for Norma will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 9:00-11:00am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 1002 ½ NE 6TH St., Washington, IN 47501. The funeral service will begin immediately following visitation at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Latta officiating. Interment will follow at Sugarland Memory Gardens where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Robert. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice in honor of the great care Norma received. Donation envelopes will be provided at the service.
