Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home - CarthageNorma Monnat, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 21, 2026, at the age of 93.
Norma was born on August 1, 1932, in Croghan, the daughter of the late Alvin and Erma (Kloster) Boliver. She attended Father Leo Memorial School and married Stanley F. Monnat on June 25, 1955, at St. Anthony's Church in Indian River. A devoted homemaker, Norma lived on Route 126 in Castorland for many years before moving to Lowville upon her husband's retirement. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Carthage and a life member of both the Lowville VFW and the Croghan American Legion.
Mom enjoyed her stay at Meadowbrook Terrace for the past year and loved playing Bingo with other residents. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her son, Tom (Brenda) Monnat of Croghan; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; her sisters, Mildred “Millie” Monnat of Castorland, Dorothy Monnat of Croghan, and Sharon Sweeney of Carthage; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her two sons, Gary and Tim Monnat; her daughter, Kelly Garrison; a grandson, David Monnat; and her brothers, Gerald, Richard, and Edward Boliver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan, with Rev. Donald Manfred officiating. Burial will take place in the spring on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Croghan. Please note that there will be no calling hours.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
