Norma Purcell

Norma (McDaniel) Purcell, age 89, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington. She was born in Calvertville, Indiana on December 4, 1932, the daughter of William "Bill" & Rose (Wells) McDaniel. She married Robert E. Purcell on March 25, 1949 and they were married for almost 71 years.
She attended Bloomfield High School and attended IU Bloomington for a year then she completed two years of training through Crane in electronics. She worked at Crane as an electronics technician and retired after 20 years. She was a member of Concord General Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Friendly Neighbor Club, BMW Club and the Traveling Turtles Camping Club. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and gardening but she especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her loving children, Willard (Lori) Purcell, Jack (Rita) Purcell and Tim (Judy) Purcell all of Bloomfield; daughter, Sheila (Virgil) Jones of Linton; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and two on the way; 10 great great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Rita Shelton and 5 siblings.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Concord General Baptist Church in Calvertville on Thursday, January 20, 2022 with Pastor Craig Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery in Solsberry.
Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 pm and on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Concord General Baptist Church through the funeral home. Envelopes will be available at the church.
