I played from 19777-1981. Miss Norma was always pleasant and had a smile on her face.

I played offensive and defensive lineman for UA 1966 thru 1969 when Coach Jack Rutledge began his coaching career for UA. I met Norma after my playing days when some of us went to see her and Jack at their home in Tuscaloosa after their retirement. I understand how many of the players would have cared for her as the Dorm "Mom" during her and Jack's time as Coach and dorm director. I pray God's blessings for the entire family as Norma joins her husband Jack and others who have gone to their heavenly rewards before her.

Fall 1973, Norma adopted me and many others that followed as her own sons. Bryant Hall was our home.. Coach Rutledge and Norma helped many players negotiate life as Christians and taught us to be gracious and humble warriors.

So sorry to hear about Mrs. Rutledge. She was the definition of a true Christian Lady and one of the finest people I have ever known. My prayers are with the Rutledge family. May God bless the Rutledge family and give them comfort and peace.
