Norma Danforth Schlitter, of Peyton, Colorado, met the Lord on December 20th, 2024 after a 2 month battle with stage 4 liver cancer. Her courage in meeting this unexpected and deadly foe was only surpassed by a life filled with kindness, love and gentleness. Beloved wife of Michael and loving mother of Kristopher and Elizabeth, as well as grandmother of Carson, her life was one of caring and concern for family and friends alike. Her love extended to many members of the "four legged" family, and indeed to all of God's creatures.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 21st, 1949, she and Michael were married July 17th, 1971-5 weeks before Michael left for Air Force Officer Training School. Married for only two years, Michael was assigned to Udorn AFB, Thailand during the Vietnam War. Returning after a one year tour of duty, he and Norma shared the next 50+ years in married life living in MA, NH, TX and VA before relocating to Colorado in 2005. To those lucky enough to have known her, they were blessed by that knowledge. Truly on the entire earth during her too short life, there was no person who ever deserved the life eternal with Christ more than her.
A Celebration of Life will be held by family at her home in Peyton on the 24th of January. Those wishing to honor her may make donations to the Rocky Mountain Collie/Sheltie Rescue in Pueblo. The many adopted dogs and cats that enriched her and Michael's life were at the Rainbow Bridge joyously awaiting her.
