Norma "Dale" Sitter, 83, of Krebs, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at her home near Krebs.
The family has completed cremation arrangements and will have a visitation and memorial service on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester, then committal services at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Hartshorne.
Norma Dale Sitter was born on March 16, 1942 in McAlester to Sampson and Lillian (Auston) Vaughan. She grew up in the Ulan area, graduated from McAlester High School, she married John Edward Sitter from Hartshorne, in a private ceremony in Wilburton. He preceded her in death in 2012. Dale completed her education for nursing and started her nursing career as a nurse for Dr. Leroy Milton. After about 20 years there, she went to work for the McAlester hospital, until, finally doing home health nursing. She had also taught nursing classes at the Kiamichi Vo-Tech. Dale had a long-time membership at the First Baptist Church of McAlester and Frink Baptist Church. She was known by her family as an excellent cook and enjoyed making flower and vegetable gardens each year.
Dale is survived by her children, Johnny Sitter and wife Jitka, and Derek Sitter and wife Jeanne; grandchildren, Lily, Levon, and Ayla; and sisters, Betty Schofield, and Diane Lytle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Lindy Vaughan and Don Vaughan; sisters, Judy Chellberg, and Shirley Campbell; and an infant brother.
