Norma Tate of Groesbeck passed on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Waco at the age of 98.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2025, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating and burial will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Marlin.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Allen, Mitch Allen, Aaron Swearingen, Stanley Ray LeNoir, David Hughes, and Matt Wilson.
She was born November 14, 1927, in Falls County to parents, James R.L. Allen and Alverta (Lewis) Allen. She graduated from Reagan High School in Falls County. Norma married Ed Tate on August 29, 1946, and they then moved to Bremond and later to Chilton in 1947. In 1961, they relocated to Groesbeck. She worked many years for the Groesbeck Livestock Commission Company in the office on sale day. In addition, she had a kindergarten in her home for many years prior to Groesbeck ISD having a kindergarten in the school system. She then went to work for the school district until her retirement. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Thornton.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ed Tate in November 1996 and son, James Edward (Jim) Tate of Garland in 2019 as well as her parents.
Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Mary Ellen Tate of the Blue Ridge Community; daughter-in-law, Ann Tate of Garland; grandson, Clint Tate and wife Lesley of Rockwall; granddaughter, Beth Gans and husband Mike of McKinney; great grandchildren, Tate Gans and Lizzie Gans of McKinney and Lane Tate and Will Tate of Rockwall; nephews, Jeff Allen, Mitch Allen, Aaron Swearingen and niece, Julie Irwin as well as many church and community friends.
