Norma Jean Turk, 92 of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on June 23, 2025. She was born on April 15, 1933 in
Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Norman and Lucille Skillman (Pflumm). She later moved with her family to Beech Grove, Indiana where she grew up.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Beech Grove, Indiana. She attended Holy Name Catholic School and graduated from St. Mary's Academy downtown Indianapolis. Norma was proud to play on their kickball team. One of her most cherished memories was being selected to crown Blessed Mother during her senior year. She married the late William (Bill) Turk and was blessed with four daughters. She stated this was the most wonderful time in her life. Family meant the world to Norma.
Norma worked at William H. Block Company department store for several years. She retired from Jefferson National Life Insurance Company after 17 years of service.
In her younger years, she enjoyed being President of Holy Name Altar Society, a member of the Holy Name bowling team and shopping. Norma loved being part of the Norma Jean Club where she met other women with the same name. They continued to get together even when she was living in a skilled nursing facility. She felt blessed to spend time with a few of her long-time friends. Norma always attended many school sports, musical and theatre events for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cheering for the Indiana Hoosiers, Colts, Pacers and Fever. Going to the beach in Florida was a favorite too. Anytime the sun was shining, she preferred to be outside to work on her tan and enjoy the warm weather.
Norma is survived by her children Jill (Steve) Abel, Carla (John) Rowe, Marisa (Bryan) Trotter and Lynn (Jimmy) Moylan; grandchildren Ellen (Tommy) Hulland, Lucas Rowe, Graham Trotter, Shane Moylan, Haley Abel, Sami Moylan and Elaina Trotter; great grandchildren Landon Abel, John (JJ) and Phoebe Hulland who loved to call her Gigi; sister Gerry Wheat and her nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Fr. Isaac Siefker at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 89 N 17th Avenue, Beech Grove, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory, share stories and celebrate a life well lived from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. She will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery.
