Norma Jean Vazquez, age 76 departed this life December 17, 2025

May She have comfort and peace in Gods Hands.

Born on December 31st, 1948 in Chicago Illinois, Norma was the fourth child of fourteen children of the late William and Thelma Rhymes.

Norma attended Wendell Phillips High School, where she cultivated a love of learning and a curiosity about the world. She continued her education at Loyola University, earning her degree and laying the foundation for a life marked by intellect, independence, and adventure.

Norma had a deep passion for travel, which took her far beyond her hometown. She spent many years living in Germany, immersing herself in a new culture, exploring historic cities. Her journeys reflected her adventurous spirit and her desire to embrace the world with open arms.

Norma was married to Francisco Vazquez, with whom she shared two children, Tino (Marianne) and Lisa (Linda). She is also the biological mother of her daughter Mary with Steffen Hopf.

She is survived by six grandchildren, Deangelo, Tino Jr, Aniya, Amber, Dominique and Jordan. She also leaves behind to mourn, siblings, Dolores, Lynette, Patricia, Darlene, James, Theresa and Debra (Kinley) Siblings preceded in death were Herbert (Also being celebrated here with her) Michael, Johnny, Earl, Sheila and Clifford.

Norma had a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and was so proud of throughout her life.

Norma's feisty spirit and love for life touched many around her. She embraced every adventure with curiosity, laughter and courage.

Though she will be missed, the memories she created and the spark of her adventurous soul will live on.
