Riemann Family Funeral Home - Pass ChristianNorman Leslie Archer, Sr, age 81, of Kiln, passed away on August 27, 2025, in Slidell, LA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Archer, Jr; his mother, Blondie Everett; his step-father, Edward Everett; a brother, Jimmy Archer; a sister, Cheryl Speirs; and 2 grandchildren, Chelsey Cole and Draven Archer.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Erma Lee Archer; his children, Leslie Archer, Hope Cole, and Eddie Archer (Lindsey); his siblings, Ray (Ann) Archer and Bobby (Vanessa) Archer; his grandchildren, Desiree Archer, Kelsey Campbell (Shelby), Bryce Disher, and Amayah Archer; his great-grandchildren, Jaylen Cain, Christian Campbell, Connor Campbell, Kambrie Sones, and Bryton Sones; and other relatives and friends. Norman was especially proud to play a fatherly role in the lives of Kelsey and Bryce, a bond that brought him great joy and fulfillment.
Mr. Archer was a native of Picayune and was a long time resident of Kiln. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He held many different jobs throughout his life, including construction and truck driving, but his favorite role was operating heavy equipment. Though he was forced into retirement earlier than he wished due to health conditions, he carried with him a deep pride in the work he accomplished and in the skills he was able to pass on to others.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to church, fishing, hunting, horse riding, and watching western and war movies. He was a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
Norman wanted to be remembered for his hard work, honesty, kindness, and for being a devoted Christian and family man. He was someone who could always be counted on, was known as the best secret keeper, and gave the best advice. His greatest legacy is the love he shared, the faith he lived by, and the values he instilled in those who were blessed to know him.
The family would like to invite everyone to Wolf Creek Baptist Church after the graveside service for a time of fellowship and food. Donations of food may be brought to the church.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 9 - 11 am at Wolf Creek Baptist Church, 26041 Wolf Creek Road, Kiln, MS 39556. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the church. Interment will be in Standard Sandhill Cemetery.
