Norman Behrendt Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 4, 2025.
Norman F. Behrendt Sr.
Was peacefully born into eternal life on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at age 99 years. Beloved husband of the late Sally Behrendt (nee Jannetto), married for 66 years. Loving father of Craig (Helen) Behrendt, Bruce (Mary) Behrendt and Norman Jr. (Karen) Behrendt. Dear grandpa of Anthony and Alyssa Behrendt; Rebecca, Benjamin, Zachary, Emily (Abel) Ramos, Noah and Ruthann Behrendt. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Anna Behrendt who died when he was at a young age.
Norman had a difficult start to his life with being orphaned at 3 years old after losing both of his parents. He led a fulfilling childhood being raised by nuns at a Catholic orphanage on the west side of Milwaukee. He was fond of the memories that he made spending summers on Friess Lake at Camp Villa Jerome throughout his childhood. He learned of his four siblings in his teenage years, and became reunited with them. Norman went on to serve in the U.S. Army post World War II, where he served as a technical Sergeant, becoming proficient in Morse code as a radio operator. After he served his country, he met and married the love of his life, Sally Jannetto and they went on to have three loving sons. He worked for the City of Milwaukee for 30 years, retiring at age 60. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his lake home, helping his kids out with home projects, playing cribbage, spending time with his grandchildren, and taking many family videos with his camcorder. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Norman will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Cemetery privately. A special thanks to the staff of Wilson Commons Polanaise and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful loving care.
