Norman John Bennett, 86, of Syracuse, Utah passed away January 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ogden, Utah on June 24, 1938 to Elton John Bennett and Lena Ruth Tree.

Norm was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a strong testimony and he shared it by the way he lived. He served in many church callings, but his favorite was serving as Bishop of the brand new Silverlakes Ward.

Norm’s greatest gift was service. If you knew Norm, you probably have a story of how he served you. He shared bags of vegetables grown in his garden, he plowed snow from many driveways with his tractor, he dropped off Kentucky Fried Chicken to many friends for lunch or dinner, and countless other acts of kindness. Norm was loved by everyone.

Norm’s legacy is his work ethic. While serving as a missionary in the Central States Mission his father passed away. Upon returning he helped to run the family dairy farm, and later beef farm. Being a farmer was his passion. At the same time, Norm also started a career at Smedley’s Plumbing and Heating where he mastered his trade. In 1978 he started his own company, Norm’s Plumbing. You can still see his work vans driving up and down the Wasatch Front.

Norm found the love of his life, Carol Anne Spencer, and they married on August 16, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 60 years before he sent his sweetheart home. Oh, what a reunion they must have had. Hand in hand they worked together to create their beautiful family built on love and strong values. They were blessed with 4 daughters, 1 son, 4 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 22 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. Their family was their world.

Norm was the happiest when he was camping at his property in Wyoming or hunting and fishing with his family.

Norm is survived by Karla (Tim) Robinett, Debbie (Scott) Woodrow, Angie (Eric) Barlow all of Syracuse, Utah, Teri (Bryan) Child of Pleasant View, Utah, and Spencer (Liz) Bennett of Plain City, Utah. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Anne Spencer Bennett, his parents, Elton John Bennett and Lena Ruth Tree, his brothers Claude Elton Bennett and Vance Tree Bennett, and his great grandson, Carter Brett Thurgood.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Barber Acres Ward Chapel, 3024 South 1200 West, Syracuse. Friends may visit with family on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, and on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church
